Veterans Hormone Therapy

📞 Call now: 1-800-259-0015

Nationwide veteran telehealth · licensed in all 50 states

Testosterone therapy is considered safe for long-term use in veterans when it is medically supervised — prescribed for diagnosed low testosterone and monitored with regular blood work. Like any therapy it carries some risks, which is exactly why ongoing lab monitoring is part of responsible treatment.

Safety comes from supervision, not from avoiding treatment. A provider tracks your levels and key markers over time and adjusts the plan as needed. Call 1-800-259-0015 with any safety questions.

Frequently asked questions

What are the main risks of long-term TRT?

The most common is a rise in red blood cell count (hematocrit), which is why it is monitored with routine labs. Others can include acne or fluid retention. Serious risks are uncommon with proper supervision.

Does TRT cause prostate cancer?

Current medical evidence does not show that TRT causes prostate cancer. Providers still monitor PSA and prostate health as a standard precaution, especially in older men.

How is long-term safety monitored?

Through periodic follow-up labs (testosterone, hematocrit, PSA, and others as appropriate) and check-ins, so the provider can adjust the dose and catch any issues early.

Can I stop TRT later?

Yes. If you stop, testosterone gradually returns to your baseline level over time. Any change should be discussed with your provider.
